On May 11th 2018 the University of Sheffield will be hosting a conference to rethink the history of popular entertainment. In cooperation with the National Fairground and Circus Archive and under the initiative of Circus250, this event is part of a year round calendar of events at the University of Sheffield. With this conference we will investigate the role of circus in history and invite scholars and circus practitioners to present their work.

The conference is funded by the Royal Historical Society and the Arts and Humanities Postgraduate Forum.
